Breathable membrane

Tyvek® Soft

Tyvek® Soft is a waterproof, breathable membrane composed of a single functional layer of 100% HDPE. Tyvek® Soft is highly resistant to high temperatures and retains its strength and structural properties even after years. Wind and rain is blocked by Tyvek® Soft while potentially allowing vapour out.

Applications

Tyvek® Soft is used as a water-resistant, extremely breathable layer on the cold side of facade and roof structures in new construction and renovations. This membrane is completely waterproof and should be applied directly to hard surfaces (such as roof boarding) on roofs. Tyvek® Soft protects the structure and provides optimal airtight insulation.

Installation

Apply Tyvek® Soft directly to the roof boarding or other hard surface. Apply the membrane in a shingle fashion, where the horizontal overlaps are minimum 100 mm and maximum 200 mm. The membrane is temporarily applied to the structure using stainless steel staples. Final attachment by snapping the membrane to the battens. Tyvek® Soft should be applied with the printed side facing outward. Tyvek® Soft can be used in facades directly on both hard and soft substrates. For corner solutions, convert the membrane to the first following batten, where it is fastened with staples and/or snap tape. For roof pitches between 15° and 25° it is recommended to install a heavier type of roof membrane for example the Polytex® Pro.
